Proposal

In this presentation, we review the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization as it relates to greater gender equality. Presenters will cover a basic definition of the UNESCO organization, its overarching connection to gender equality in Canada, as well as its significance in the University of Windsor student community. The organization’s dedication to promoting peace and security calls for international collaboration in sustainable development. A part of this development is directly linked to bringing equality, and equity, to all people. Presenters suggest that the University of Windsor student community exercises the principles of UNESCO through participating in campus programs that ultimately empowers all students. While the organization is independent from the University of Windsor, each exercises its best abilities to fulfill the United Nations’ sustainable development goal of gender equality. Ultimately, the presenters recommend various ways in which students can be involved in executing the global goal on a local level. This presentation is a direct product of the Outstanding Scholars Candidacy program, owing its development to the upper-year members of the program and its faculty advisor.
