Abstract
Sliding mode observers for robust fault diagnosis in linear uncertain systems are proposed in this article. We show that a certain class of sliding mode fault diagnosis observers can be designed under much less conservative conditions than the unknown input fault diagnostic observers. The proposed diagnostic technique is used for sensor and actuator fault monitoring of typical dynamical systems.
