Abstract
An analysis of robust and nonlinear fault diagnosis was performed using sliding mode observers (SMO). An unknown input decoupled sliding mode fault diagnosis observer (SMFDO) was proposed and the use of observable sub-system with unknown inputs for fault diagnosis was also discussed. The results revealed that SMFDO can be designed under less restrictive conditions with respect to unknown input fault diagnostic observers.
