Abstract
This exploratory-descriptive study reports data from a secondary analysis of child physical and sexual abuse cases serviced by the Roman Catholic Children's Aid Society for the County of Essex (RCCAS) between January 1, 1985 and December 31, 1988. Data were gathered by means of a pretested instrument to extrapolate information from the sample cases (n = 73) in the general areas of: (1) client family profile; (2) abuse profile; (3) RCCAS case information; (4) services provided by the RCCAS and community agencies; and, (5) RCCAS worker professional profile. Implications of the study are directed toward future research, the development of decision-making frameworks within child welfare agencies and schools of social work, and the field of child welfare in general.
