Abstract

This talk builds on existing research we have done on the Chatham Coloured All-Stars to show some of the connections we've found between Windsor/ Detroit Black Baseball. The 1934 Chatham Coloured All-Stars were the first Black team to win an Ontario Baseball Amateur Association championship. Until very recently, the story of this team was not well-known outside of Chatham or Southwestern Ontario. Our presentation suggests that the story of this team, and its connections with Black baseball in Windsor and Detroit, can help us explore the fluid border of Black baseball in this region.
