'Home should be a sanctuary, a place to live in peace, security and dignityâ€. The right to adequate housing has been recognized as a human right in Canada since 1994. However, the country is facing a range of housing issues due to the high demand for affordable housing. The student population, both domestic and international, are particularly affected by the housing crisis as they struggle to find safe and affordable housing near their educational institutions. This policy brief raises questions on whether Canada has adequate policies and methodologies in place to address the growing student housing crisis. It highlights the need for immediate action and proposes recommendations to ensure that all students have access to suitable and affordable housing options.
