Abstract
A new approach for efficient control of a boiling water reactor (BWR) plant is presented in this paper. A recursive procedure which employs aggregation techniques is used to determine an optimal control law which would assign all or a subset of the closed loop eigenspectrum of the dynamic system to prespecified locations for desirable response of the reactor under disturbances. The control approach proposed is superior to previously proposed techniques since large feedback gains can be avoided by effectively using all the control effort for moving the dominant poles of the system. Also the control algorithm is computationally attractive, since low order matrix computations are required.
