This project explores the challenges of individuals living with chronic heart failure (CHF) experience on a daily basis, including barriers to better health they are faced with. CHF affects many people in today’s society, and is a risk to many others if they have prior cardiovascular problems or coronary artery disease. Therefore, there is a need to promote awareness of this disease, its pathway and preventative measures. The Research surrounding CHF discusses the fatigue those with CHF feel mentally and physically including the adaptations they are forced to make and how the disease affects them on a daily basis. However, much of the literature fails to address accessibility of resources to help manage CHF, and the lack of proper health teaching prior to hospital discharge about the importance of taking medications and daily weights. Also, there is a lack of in-depth understandable resources for CHF patients available. By compiling information and research about chronic heart failure in an accessible way, this information becomes more simple to understand and discuss. This literature review provides a general overview of the disease and its impacts that can be used as a starting point for the general public to increase their knowledge of CHF.
