Proposal
This film/media project is a thesis project for MFA Film and Media Arts, and will be a short documentary exploring grand narratives such as life, death and faith through Hinduistic lens, and how it affects modern day contemporary India. This project will consider the genre of observational documentary as its core philosophy in exploring the ancient and holy cities of Varanasi, Rishikesh and Haridwar, which are considered by Hindu pilgrims places of utmost importance, as they come here to worship for the new born, as well as perform last rites and cremate the body of their deceased at the banks of the Ganges. The project proposes to interview Hindu scholars, practitioner, as well as sceptics, in order to have a balanced take on the subject matters. The proposed film will take inspiration from the works such as Monsoon (2014) by Sturla Gunnarsoon, The Darjeeling Limited (2007) by Wes Anderson, Masaan (2015)

Grand Challenges
Understanding Borders
Special Considerations
I know that my proposed media presentation doesn't really fit into the four grand challenges but I assure you that if given the opportunity to present at the conference, my presentation will be intellectually stimulating, something new to a Canadian audience and a big help for me to gain some insights about my work through discussions and feedback.
