This session will focus on how English as a Second Language (ESL) students' English learning, has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This study focuses on recent Chinese immigrant students studying at a public primary and or public secondary school within Ontario, Canada. These students were enrolled within their school ESL program, before and during their transition to online education. In addition, it will focus on the tools and skills used to help student adapt to online learning, and how they were able to do this with newcomers to Canada. The goal is to develop a better pedagogical understanding with regards to how a global pandemic affects learning among ESL students.
