Proposal

In 2015, the United Nations proposed a 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Within this agenda, there are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and 169 targets to be met by 2030. All member states of the United Nations have agreed to make changes in favour of achieving these SDGs. Organizations such as the IASSW, ICSW, and IFSW are invested in understanding and promoting the reciprocal relationship between Social Work and sustainable development. In collaboration with Kadambari Memorial College in Nepal, the impacts of the United Nations 2030 Agenda on the emerging field of Social Work were investigated. Utilizing semi-structured interviews, qualifying participants used their practical social work experiences to explore a variety of themes including the impact of social work on SDG progress, barriers to achieving the SDGs, and the importance of education pertaining to the SDGs in their daily practice.Â
