Proposal

In September 2015 the United Nations assembled for an urgent call to action to build global partnerships for a more sustainable future. The result of this assembly was the Sustainable Development Goals, which at its core are intertwined objectives addressing an approach to “transform our world”. The United Nations plan consists of 17 sustainable development goals or SDGs with a deadline set to be completed by 2030. These 17 SDGs are composed to accomplish development on varying world issues such as poverty, world education, and reducing inequalities. The initial 16 goals serve their own individual principles with little relation to one another. However, holistically these goals were designed as a collaborative interdisciplinary measure for advancement on pertinent global issues. The interconnectedness between goals is the result of SDG 17, partnership for the goals, the focus of this proposal. Arguably, SDG 17 is the foundation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the interconnectedness between each objective. Simplistically, SDG 17 is about cultivating and utilizing global partnerships for the betterment of humanity. This contributes to the notion that SDG 17 is a uniting force. Essentially, omitting SDG 17 would correlate to a decrease in efficacy and continual development of SDGs 1-16.
